Te Whare o Kea is a non profit social enterprise and supports Kea and kiwi Conservation. It provides simple shelter for trampers, bikers and other nature lovers. Spectacular sunrises and night skies also make it the perfect location for a retreat. Since opening in 2020, Te Whare o Kea is a Gold Kea Sponsor, donating over $20,000 towards the Kea Conservation Trust, supporting the monitoring of kea nest sites in the Cobb Valley and a 17 trap trapline and trail camera. The Cottage is situated next to the Courthouse Café and adjacent to famous potter’s gallery & workshop. It is a stone’s throw from the beach and conveniently located to explore the picturesque top of the South Island. It is across the road from Farewell Spit Eco tours and a short drive to Wharariki beach, and Aorere Valley. A two night minimum is a must!
