The Signal Box Riverside Accommodation- Whanganui

Stay in a beautifully restored New Zealand Railway Signal Box. This building has plenty of character and spectacular elevated views of the Whanganui River. Relocated in the late 1990's to its current position, the Signal Box is set on 5 acres of land with the adjacent family home, chicken run and farmland. Check out our website for more information. We are situated on Papaiti Road, on the true righthand side of the Whanganui River, approximately 8km up the river from the centre of the city.

Shannon Cottage (summer)

Comfortable cosy cottage beside Mt Ruapehu. Ideal for bikers, Tongariro Crossing hikers or photographers exploring the local scenery. Independent so you can come and go at will. Full kitchen (though basic with retro fridge and no dishwasher), TV, DVDs and Chromecast, unlimited wifi, laundry, heating & aircon. One double room and one room with 2 singles (that can push together), plus a couch bed in the living room and a travel cot. From mid-May to Oct book 'Shannon Cottage (winter)' instead.

With private off-street parking. There is additional parking if required (please advise if needed) With everything you need provided to make yourselves breakfast.

Some of the amenities are ensuite, Fridge/Freezer, oven, microwave and Queen bed.

There's horses in the paddock next to us, as well as sheep, so you can get in touch with nature and relax. Base yourself here for your Ruapehu ski trip, do the Tongariro Crossing, one of the world's best day hikes, rent a bike and cycle the Old Coach Road, or use this cabin to rest and relax.
