Vegan picnic with rescued animals
We'll start with a tour of the sanctuary where you'll meet a variety of rescued farm animals. We'll share their stories of resilience and healing and talk a bit more about the industries they come from. You'll love meeting our animal ambassadors and may be surprised at what you learn, since we so rarely see the animals in our food system. Join us afterwards at our picnic tables in the field for a glass of local wine and a vegan cheese and charcuterie platter. (Note: The platter contains nuts and gluten unless otherwise requested. Please inform us of any allergies when you make your booking so we can be sure to provide suitable options. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.) The Experience will last approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Please be mindful that as a sanctuary for rescued animals, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our loved animal residents are completely free and always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors. They will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives, where we'll have the honor of taking care of them. Private Pottery Wheel Lesson
After being introduced to the space and to each other, I will provide a quick demonstration on the wheel with a small amount of clay. Afterwards, each guest will be allowed time to create a piece on the wheel from beginning to end with personal instruction and assistance from me. Guests are welcome to make anything they would like to on the wheel! Cup, bowl, vase, dish, etc. (Please Read)The firing of pottery is a long process that is separate from the time we spend on the wheel. Each piece requires a two day long firing process in a kiln, and I hand glaze each piece. I offer kiln services out of my personal studio if you have interest in having your piece fired for a *small fee that is not due the day of the experience.* I do not include this in the price of the experience because some guests do not wish to keep their piece. Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting some clay on. Clay will wash out, but you may not want to go out right after. The time noted on the experience, 2 hours, is generally descriptive of a 2 person experience which encompasses the majority of my bookings. In general, the experience is 1 hour per person. If there are 3 or 4 people in the booking, likely the experience will extend the 2 hour session time, and if there is 1 person in the booking it will be closer to an hour.

Create Ricotta, Tartines, and Cacio e Pepe
You will be greeted with some specialty non-alcoholic beverages, along with some affection from our three small rescue dogs. I will teach you how to make homemade ricotta cheese in a very simple way, and then how to use that ricotta to make tartines (rustic bread toasted and spread with Ricotta and topped with your choices of things -- we take them to a whole new level with at least 25 special ingredients I create just for you) and a quick and easy version of cacio e pepe (what I call a grown-ups mac n' cheese). You will learn what to do with the whey which is leftover from making cheese. We will even pick some herbs and edible flowers from my herb garden, and learn more about those as part of this experience. Then you will sit down to eat the creations you have made. You will leave with the recipes you need to easily recreate the ricotta at home, and a new skill to share with your family and friends. Other things to note As this class centers around making ricotta cheese, if you have a dairy allergy this would not work for you. However, if you are simply lactose intolerant we CAN make this with lactose-free milk. Please let me know in advance. We have three small friendly dogs who are part of the welcoming committee. If you have a dog allergy or aversion, please understand this part of the experience cannot be changed.
French Omelets, Benedicts & Egg Cookery

Most people have never eaten a properly cooked French-style omelet, let alone know how to cook one! You will get to do both!! All of these processes are ones very difficult for the average home cook to master without this kind of one-on-one training. You will leave confident and able to cook eggs the right way. Other things to note This is an active hands on cooking experience so please wear comfortable shoes. Aprons will be provided, as will written notes and recipes.Since this class is focused on eggs, it is not suitable for Vegans, but will work out fine for Vegetarians. Do let me know if you are a vegetarian or other.
