Clifton

Great for up-market independent shops, sightseeing and food. In Clifton Village, try the Primrose Café for brunch, shop in the Clifton Arcade and don’t miss a walk across the Clifton Suspension Bridge! For a coffee with a stunning view (or a glass of wine), visit the Clifton Observatory. Whiteladies Road is the place to go for restaurants and bars, including excellent sushi at Bento Boss, pizza at Bosco Pizzeria or Barhumbug. Veggies and vegans are well catered for in Bristol, but if you’re a meat-eater, try the Ox for the perfect steak (they have an Early Bird Dinner Deal until 7pm Mon- Fri).

Crofters Rights for fresh pizza and craft beer. The Coconut Tree for authentic Sri Lankan food. Also the Bootlegger or the Love Inn for cocktails. The best way to experience this area is to start at the bottom (the Full Moon pub in Stokescroft) and walk up the hill towards the Arches and Gloucester Road.

For nightlife, get a taxi to Corn Street and start with cocktails at the Gold Bar or Dirty Martini. I’d also recommend trying one of Bristol’s secret speakeasy bars for a fun and indulgent experience. Try the Milkthistle, or the Scarlet Lantern on Union Street - an underground bar which from the outside just looks like a regular payphone…
