While offering guests a peaceful and comfortable stay, the farm can also challenge others to hikes and leisurely walks. Please ask us about the routes. The working farm has cattle, a handful of sheep, horses and chickens. It is a place of tranquility and beauty. The perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle. Please feel free to use the various picnic spots along the mountain streams.

Sunbird Cottage is on a working farm 30km from Volksrust and Wakkerstroom Wetlands, it is a place to come and relax and recharge, we are off grid. There is great birding, walking, mountain biking and bass fishing on site, there are also kayaks for the dams. The cottage overlooks a gorge that goes down to the Slang River with an indigenous forest and has great views over the valley towards Amajuba Mountain and Battlefields for those interested in history.

The Cottage is within walking distance, 100m, of restaurants and town centre but also very private with beautifull gardens and lovely patio for you to enjoy. you can light a fire for those cooler wakkerstroom days or nights...bring your own music playlist of favourite music to listen to on our sound system and read your favourite book or you can just relax on the couches after some birdwatching!
